AC Milan have managed to beat Lecce comfortably 3-0 at the San Siro today thanks to goals by Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud, and Rafael Leao. Stefano Pioli commented on the victory and said these words to the club's official channel:
"It's clear that we always have to find important motivations within ourselves, and they were all there in this match. We want to continue in this positive period. A victory like this was needed to start these three weeks well, which will be tough on our seasonal balance. Everyone is doing well and responded well. Now, a lot of focus for the challenge against Roma."
On not feeling the absence of key players:
"Our intention is always to try to make the most of the playing characteristics of the players we field. Sometimes we succeeded less due to the absence of some players, but now the level of integration, learning, and fitness is good, and changing a single player, even with important qualities like Theo, Rafa, or Loftus today, is less decisive. Satisfaction for today, but we know that against Roma, it will be 180 intense minutes: we'll have to recover our energies well."
On Samuel Chukwueze's growth, Pioli said:
"His mindset has changed. Now he has confidence, is positive, believes in what he does. He understands better what the team needs on the field. He's a quality player. I'm very happy for him because he went through a tough time: from the outside, everything seems rosy, but players face significant pressures. He believed in himself, worked hard, and that pleases me, the club, and the team."
On the fans' support for Theo Hernandez:
"How beautiful, it's exciting. Theo and also Oli. Players whom the fans have learned to appreciate. I'm fortunate to coach them: it's great when the value of your players, both technically and morally, is recognized by your fans."
Roma play a derby against Lazio today, then they will face Milan in Europa League next Thursday:
"It won't take anything away from Roma. If we played on Tuesday, there might be some mental strain. Roma will have prepared for it with attention and energy expenditure, but on Thursday, the match is so important that Roma, regardless of the derby, will be ready."
