Five consecutive Serie A victories that became seven if you also count the double clash in the Europa League round of 16 against Slavia Prague: these numbers say that Milan has indeed shifted gears.

The Rossoneri have been doing so for a while now, more precisely since the beginning of 2024: in the new year, in fact, the Rossoneri have only lost two games, namely the one in the Coppa Italia against Atalanta and the one in Serie A against Monza.

Pioli's team also lost the return leg of the Europa League playoffs away to Rennes, but it was a painless defeat because qualification for the round of 16 had already been secured in the first leg at San Siro.

The Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports this morning that in the new year Milan has played 19 matches and the balance has been 14 victories, 2 draws, and 3 defeats. The Rossoneri have changed pace, reached the Europa League quarter-finals, and surpassed Juventus to take second place in the league standings. But what lies behind the turnaround in 2024? First of all, the drastic decrease in injuries: there have been some setbacks as normal, but the number of physical problems is not at all comparable to those of the last months of 2023.

In addition to that, Milan has also grown both athletically and tactically, with the newcomers now all settled in and integrated into Pioli's game plan (after months as a mysterious figure, even Chukwueze, for example, has exploded). The Milan coach has also sorted out the defensive phase because the Devil was conceding too many goals.

There is finally another aspect that has surely brought something to Milan, namely the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic: since his return to the Rossoneri as a manager, the team of Stefano Pioli has found itself again, as relayed via Milan News.
