Christophe Galtier is on the shortlist of coaches who could take over Stefano Pioli's role on the Milan bench. In this case, it would be a return to Lombardy, following his experience as a player with Monza (24 appearances in Serie B during the 1997/98 season).
According to information from L'Equipe, a meeting is scheduled for next week between the Rossoneri management and the coach's representatives. Galtier has been inactive for a year after his bittersweet experience at Paris Saint-Germain, which ended with separation at the end of the season not so much due to sporting results below expectations (despite winning a Ligue 1 title) but rather due to a scandal related to racism accusations against him, stemming from his time at Nice. Accusations from which the coach was subsequently acquitted.
At 58 years old, Galtier has some connections with the most representative players of Milan: he coached Mike Maignan during his time at Lille, winning a Ligue 1 title and in the same year defeating Milan 0-3 at San Siro. He also coached Rafa Leao at Lille in the 2018/19 season and is a friend of Theo Hernandez's family, having played with the full-back's father at Toulouse.
Even a transfer target like Jonathan David has developed under his guidance. The French newspaper also highlights good relations with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, despite never having coached him, as relayed via Milan News.
