AC Milan's sporting director Giorgio Furlani spoke to DAZN after the 1-2 loss in the derby match.
Here are his statements:
For Milan fans, it's a tough night. What are your initial reflections?
"First of all, congratulations to Inter, we would have liked it to be us. We are working for the next season to make it a successful one. I wouldn't talk about emotions now; we still have 5 games left in this league. We are still in second place and we would like to hold onto this second place. We are still focused on these upcoming matches."
At the beginning of the season, were you convinced you had a team capable of matching Inter?
"We build the team to win, that was the goal last summer and it is also the goal this summer. You can't always win. We made a big revolution in the squad last summer, this year it will be lighter work. The goal is always the same."
What improvements should Milan fans expect? Furlani replied:
"Are you suggesting that we only invest in young players? I always say that a player is not defined by whether they are young or not, but by whether they are good or not. We will try to build a more competitive team."
Pioli's future:
"The coach of Milan is Stefano Pioli, I confirm this. We are focused on finishing the season well. In terms of how we work on the sporting side, the people reporting to Gerry Cardinale are Moncada, Ibrahimovic, and myself. These are the people who report to Gerry, with him always making the final decision."
