These were supposed to be the days of contract signing (officialisation was expected at the end of the season) for Julen Lopetegui and Milan, but the rossoneri have asked for time to reflect on the choice, strongly conditioned by the reaction of the fans, and above all, by the Curva Sud members.

According to Relevo, Gerry Cardinale, shaken by the atmosphere that has been created and by the numerous threats, is willing to step back and resort to another coach.

The RedBird founder, Gerry Cardinale, change of course is not shared by the entire board, including Ibrahimovic. Recall that during the past week, all parties involved, including Lopetegui, had met in London to verbally define all the details of the contract.

The feelings suggested that the agreement was a matter of time. But the great pressure from the stands has caused the Italian entity to reconsider backing out when everything seemed set in stone.

Julen Lopetegui, annoyed by Milan's attitude, feels free to take on a new challenge. He has been without a team since leaving Wolverhampton in August 2023, waiting for a project to resume his career on the sidelines.

The proposal coming from San Siro suited him, and he had been negotiating with the club leaders for several weeks. Several ideas about the next transfer market were even shared. Therefore, he was annoyed that the interest came to nothing when it was about to be finalized.

Now, he will have to wait for new proposals. Arabia tempted him a few months ago, but his priority was to stay in the elite of Europe, with a special preference for the Premier League but without closing doors to other leagues.

Milan management has been working for weeks on Julen Lopetegui who represented Plan A for them, and now they do not have a candidate ready with whom they are already negotiating concretely.

Different names have been mentioned, but they had focused on the Spanish until they decided to halt the negotiations. What is certain is that from the summer, Stefano Pioli will leave, and a new coach will take his place.
