The Milan club still doesn't know who will be the next coach, nor do they know for certain who the new signings will be for the upcoming season. One thing, however, seems certain: the striker department will be different. Everything is determined by Olivier Giroud's departure, who is leaving his starting position to finish his career in America, with Los Angeles FC; only the official announcement is missing. The number 9 will be replaced by a younger striker who can symbolize the future. According to the latest rumors, he will be accompanied by Luka Jovic.
The news was announced today by Gazzetta dello Sport: Milan's Serbian striker, Luka Jovic, seems to be staying with the Rossoneri. It was one of the big questions of this season. The striker arrived after just one year at Fiorentina in the late stages of the summer transfer window and signed for only one year.
The agreement allowed the Rossoneri club to exercise a unilateral renewal option at the end of the season, so for Jovic, it was about spending this season trying to convince the management to confirm him. After a poor start, from December onwards, Jovic carved out a place as the twelfth man: he solved or turned around several games coming off the bench, reaching 9 goals, not few considering the minutes he played... So his stay now seems only a formality. It only remains to be seen whether Milan will trigger the automatic option or work with the player's entourage for a long-term extension.
As things stand, Jovic will find himself playing second fiddle and mentoring the new striker that Milan will fully invest in this summer. Regardless of what Giroud would have decided, it was already known that the Rossoneri would have to move in this direction. For the number 9 shirt, the favorite candidate is Joshua Zirkzee, the striker from Bologna whom Moncada has been following even before he ended up in Emilia.
