The choice has been made according to La Gazzetta dello Sport: Aurelio De Laurentiis has identified Stefano Pioli as the perfect man to start over. Napoli is experiencing a largely disappointing season after winning the league title last year, and choosing Rudi Garcia, then hiring Walter Mazzarri and then replacing him with Francesco Calzona, all in the same season, did not bear fruit.
For this reason, the Napoli president and owner is now called upon to turn the situation around with a strong decision on the new coach. The offer to the current Rossoneri coach will be a two-year contract with an option for a third season at 3 million euros plus bonuses. This amount is far from the 4.5 million euros he currently earns at Milan, but it could be supplemented with a severance package that he will have to negotiate with the Rossoneri, given his contract until 2025.
