As written by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, AC Milan will intervene in the market this summer - after resolving the issue of the new coach - to improve or reinforce at least four positions.
The striker is the absolute priority, as well as a central defender. The management will also move to secure a midfielder and a versatile full-back. For this latter need, the name indicated as the favorite is Emerson Royal.
As reported, Emerson Royal's profile is not new to Milan. The Brazilian full-back had been identified as a transfer target three years ago, in 2021, when a transfer battle with Inter was even hypothesised, as their agents had been contacted.
Negotiations and interests ended there, and the player moved to Tottenham from Barcelona. In London, Royal experienced three seasons with ups and downs: a promising start as a starter, which led, especially this season with the definitive explosion of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie, to a final year marked by too many bench appearances. For this reason as well, the player may decide to change clubs at the end of this season. His contract expires in 2026.
Emerson Royal's profile could technically meet Milan's needs. The Brazilian plays on the right as his natural position but has often been deployed as a left-back, a quality that appeals to the Rossoneri and has notoriously been sought after by the Rossoneri: Florenzi and Kalulu, as well as Terracciano, can play both roles on the flank, and even Calabria has occasionally been used on the left, albeit less frequently.
The major obstacle standing in the way to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian right-back, as often in these cases, is Tottenham's high demand, which would reportedly ask for 30 million euros. Considering the other priorities in the market, it's very unlikely that Casa Milan will decide to spend such a high amount: the main investment will undoubtedly be directed towards the striker, as relayed via Milan News.
