Alessandro Buongiorno is on Milan's wish list is not at all surprising. On one hand, he's the Italian center-back with the most potential, and indeed Inter, Napoli, and Juventus are closely monitoring him; on the other hand, Milan had already inquired about him in January.

The response at that time came unanimously from the Granata side, with Cairo setting a high price (around 40 million euros) and Buongiorno showing no intention of leaving his beloved team mid-season. And now, the Rossoneri is testing the waters for a new attempt, considering that at this point, after another excellent personal year with Torino, the player might aspire to play for the Champions League and the Scudetto.

In this sense, in Italy, Tuttosport writes that Inter has the upper hand, although they might only utilize a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Then comes Milan, which has a greater margin of maneuver. Napoli and especially Juventus are trailing, as Buongiorno wouldn't want to join them being a big Torino fan.

Recently, Torino president Urbano Cairo, during the Superga commemoration, said: "A year ago, we kept him. Alessandro was happy, and I was even happier than him. If Buongiorno stays, I'll be very happy."

It doesn't seem like there's a will to keep him at all costs, so Toro's president one sets the price: it starts from at least 45 million euros. From this point on, Milan will have to start doing the math. It seems clear that the Rossoneri will invest a large part of their resources in a new striker, which could cost between 50 and 60 million. By doing so, it's logical that other improvements would need to be made with a smaller economic availability. So if Milan wants to meet Cairo's demands, it seems necessary for a defender to leave: it could be Tomori, valued at 30 million euros, or Thiaw, for whom they could ask for 20 million. Meanwhile, as mentioned, Moncada has had several meetings with Buongiorno's agent, who also represents several players in the Rossoneri club; in these face-to-face meetings, the Torino defender has also been discussed.
