Ignazio Abate has given an interview to Milan TV microphones at the end of the match against Frosinone, won 2-1 by the Rossoneri Primavera. Here are the coach's words.
"We achieved an important result today. It was important for the standings, it was very hot. We started by going down after a few minutes due to a lapse, then the matches become complicated. It wasn't easy, because they were also playing for a chance to save themselves. The boys were patient. In the first half, we played quite well with the ball for 20-25 minutes, then the pace dropped a bit. Fortunately, we got back on track in the first half. Then in the second half, it was a strange game, there was tiredness on both sides. The victory was needed by both teams. We showed patience, didn't lose our heads. Then we found the winning goal ourselves: I'm happy for the boys."
On the playoff objective:
"After 9-10 years, we're back to fighting for an important goal like the playoffs, I'm proud of them. Reaching the last day and playing for access to the Scudetto playoff is important for the growth of these boys. It's shown by the journey of these two years: we've gone from fighting for survival to fighting for the playoffs. We've improved in the Youth League, we've improved in points, goals conceded. The journey has been right. Now we go to Turin carefree: it would be the cherry on top. Otherwise, I'll still congratulate my boys because they've been amazing this year. They're a great group. I ask for the last 4-5 days of sacrifice, then we'll sum up. The season is super positive and I'm really happy with them."
Abate concludes:
"We've created a beautiful bond. I've been coaching many of them for three years, some for two, the youngest ones from this year. There's such a strong bond that we'll carry it forward in our careers."
