In this morning's print edition of the Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, there is talk again of who the new coach should be at AC Milan.
As per the report, Milan are looking for a tactician who employs either a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 formation. They want someone who understands Italian football and has experience in managing both league and Champions League obligations.
Additionally, the coach should be able to work well with the management team and possess 'style' both on and off the field.
According to the source, this profile points directly to Paulo Fonseca, born in 1973, currently coaching Lille in France's Ligue 1, and previously the manager of Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Sporting Braga.
Fonseca has stated that he has not yet made a decision about his future, which is in his hands as his contract with Lille is nearing its end. While Lille wants to keep him, Olympique Marseille is also courting him.
Next week, after the French league season ends, Fonseca will meet with his club and decide what to do: will he be the new Milan coach? There were rumours about Marcelo Gallardo, formerly of River Plate and currently at Al-Ittihad, but according to 'Tuttosport,' there have been no in-depth contacts with the Rossoneri. Gallardo also has strong interest from Sevilla. Another coach who fits Milan's desired profile, as per the outlined criteria, is Mark van Bommel.
