The Gazzetta dello Sport website reports some words from Maurizio Sarri, who, speaking from the Arci Matassino club where he was supporting one of the six mayoral candidates, said the following about Arrigo Sacchi, who has often praised him in recent years:
"Arrigo is one of the few who have changed football. There is a before Sacchi and an after Sacchi in the last century."
It is no mystery that Sarri, a few years ago, was close to sitting on the Milan bench:
"If it hadn't been for Berlusconi's refusal, I would never have coached that great Napoli."
On his future after leaving Lazio, Sarri explained:
"My future? In 2-3 years I will stop and will focus on helping my community and the people who deserve it for what they have done over the years. I am anchored in Figline. I played in the Figline youth team and for five years in the first team. I have to thank those who raised me, the coaches, and all those who were part of my career. A coffee with my lifelong friend Valerio Pianigiani. Just as in recent days, I stopped at a local Under 12 training session and saw real football. I returned home with a sense of contentment."
