Olivier Giroud gave an interview to Telefoot to talk about his departure from Milan and from the French national team after the European Championship. Here are his thoughts.
"The love and passion of the fans make the difference at Milan, and I felt it all at the moment of my farewell. I didn't expect such a touching moment. I feel that this is a good time to make a choice for my family and probably to say goodbye to top-level football. But this doesn't mean that I'm going to Los Angeles as a tourist. MLS has grown a lot in recent years, although it is still not at the European level. I'm joining an ambitious club with my competitive spirit. I'm reuniting with Hugo (Lloris), with whom I spent incredible years with the national team. We've shared many things, and I hope we will share many more."
About the European Championship with France and the end of his journey with the national team, Giroud said:
"It would be nice to leave the national team with a trophy, and the one I am missing is the European Championship. The most important thing is to give everything, then in football anything can happen. Personally, there's the milestone of 60 goals. If I could reach it... I'm three short, it can be done. It would be wonderful to experience an adventure perhaps as beautiful as my farewell to Milan. It would be great. In any case, it will also be very emotional, but I really want to finish very well with this beautiful generation. And with this beautiful blue jersey."
