The negotiation for Joshua Zirkzee might take even a lot more time. At Casa Milan, they were hoping to close the deal quickly given the favorable conditions - namely the €40 million clause and the agreement with the player - but first, the agent Kia Joorabchian's demand for €15 million in commissions and then the player's call-up to Euro 2024 have stalled and slowed down discussions.
Milan is confident that the Dutchman is their top choice for the "new number 9" position and is willing to pay the clause which can be activated starting from July 1st.
Meanwhile, The Athletic reports on Manchester United's market strategies, highlighting that the Premier League club has emerged as a potential competitor to Milan in the race for Zirkzee.
According to reports, the Premier League club wants to bring in the Dutch player to increase competition with Rasmus Hojlund, who was signed from Atalanta a year ago. Also on Ten Hag's radar are Ivan Toney from Brentford and Jonathan David from Lille, but the most concrete target is Zirkzee.
