With both of their contracts set to expire in 2026, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez have been at the center of rumours and speculation about their renewal with Milan for weeks. A few days ago, Zlatan Ibrahimovic reassured fans that the two Frenchmen (and Rafael Leao) will stay with the Rossoneri: "Maignan, Theo, and Leao stay because they are stronger players in their positions. They have contracts with us and are happy: we don't need to sell. Thanks to the work of RedBird, we have the opportunity to bring in strong players and improve."

It is clear, however, that the issue of their contract extensions will need to be addressed soon. As reported this morning by Tuttosport, both Theo and Maignan, who currently earn 5 million euros plus bonuses and 3.2 million euros respectively, are aiming for a salary increase to reach "Leao's quota," around 7 million euros per season.

A few days ago, speaking about his future from the French training camp, the former Real Madrid player stated: "The transfer market? I am 100% focused on the Euros: whether I will stay in Milan or not, we will see afterwards." Theo knows he is on the radar of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, but his priority remains Milan. He is waiting for a signal from the Rossoneri club as the contract issue will eventually need to be addressed and resolved.

The situation regarding Maignan's future seems a bit less complicated: he too is on the radar of some top clubs, but the contacts for renewal have resumed, and the former Lille player now seems a bit less "agitated" compared to a few months ago. Extending these two contracts would be an important signal from Milan, which, thanks to its orderly finances, does not need to sell its most valuable assets.
