Appearing live on Sky Sport Italia, former Juventus defender and current European champion with the national team, Giorgio Chiellini, discussed some of the key players from the Serie A who are currently competing in Germany for the 2024 European Championship. The defender was particularly clear about AC Milan's Portuguese winger, Rafael Leao, stating that in a team aiming to win titles, he can currently only be considered a good substitute.
"Leao? We all wish he was a bit more advanced, but he's not: he lacks the numbers and his potential remains largely untapped. I don't know if he'll ever have that click in his mind to score more goals and provide more assists. As of today, for me, he is a great substitute rather than a permanent starter for a team aiming to win either a European Championship or the Champions League. If the benchmark is Vinicius and Rodrigo, he is not at their level."
