The priorities remain Fofana and Samardzic for the Rossoneri midfield, but Milan is also carefully evaluating other profiles, such as that of Johnny Cardoso, an American player born in 2001 who has been playing for Real Betis since January 2024 and has a contract with them until 2029.
The contract includes a termination clause of 80 million euros, but this is not his price: when Fiorentina showed interest in him, the Spaniards asked for 25 million euros plus bonuses.
There is an important point in favour of Cardoso, namely that he also has an Italian passport and therefore, if he were to be acquired by Milan, he would not occupy one of the two non-EU slots. This is not a minor detail considering that the Rossoneri are following other players with non-EU status such as Pavlovic and Emerson Royal.
