After signing Álvaro Morata permanently from Atlético Madrid, Milan is very active in the transfer market and aims to complete a double defensive acquisition: the Rossoneri are increasingly close to Strahinja Pavlović, central defender from Salzburg, and Emerson Royal, right-back from Tottenham. According to Milannews.it, the Rossoneri club is working to close the final gaps with the clubs to provide Paulo Fonseca with two new defensive reinforcements. Both players have been pushing to move to Milanello for some time.
Born in Šabac, Serbia, on May 24, 2001, Pavlović began playing with his hometown team and then, in 2015, joined the youth ranks of Partizan Belgrade, where he continued his football development. He made his professional debut with the Partizan shirt on February 23, 2019, in a league match against Proleter Novi Sad, starting from the first minute. From that day, despite his young age, he became a regular starter for Partizan, accumulating 57 appearances in a year and a half. On December 18, 2019, his transfer for 10 million euros to Monaco was announced, but he was loaned back to the Belgrade club until the end of the season. He joined the Monegasque team in the summer, where he found limited opportunities (one appearance) and was thus loaned out to Cercle Bruges in January 2021, where he made 12 appearances in six months. He returned to Monaco in the summer, hoping for more playing time, but was once again loaned out during the winter transfer window of 2022, this time to Basel in Switzerland (10 matches played). On June 28, 2022, Pavlović was transferred permanently (7 million euros) to Salzburg, where he has made 71 appearances over the last two seasons. The 23-year-old center-back has been part of the Serbian national team since 2020 and played three matches at Euro 2024.
Emerson Royal is pushing for a move to Milan. After a season in which he made 22 appearances in the Premier League, with only half of those as a starter, the Brazilian, who has also played for Ponte Preta, Atlético Mineiro, Betis Sevilla, and Barcelona, is eager for a fresh start and has reportedly chosen Milan, specifically the Rossoneri side.
