Christian Pulisic is ready to join Milan, which arrived in New York in the Italian night for their summer tour. The tour will see the Rossoneri face off in three high-profile friendlies against Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.
The American is already in town and was a guest, also in the Italian night, on the popular The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, as relayed via Milan News.
Here are the words from the Rossoneri forward:
You've done so much for soccer in America. What does it mean to reach these levels for a guy who started in Pennsylvania?
"It's still insane to me today honestly: I never thought I would be in this position, doing what I love for a living... Incredible."
When was the first time you thought about becoming a professional soccer player?
"My first memory is with a soccer ball. Maybe when I was 6-7 years old and moved to England. Somehow I knew. Almost every Halloween, I dressed up as a soccer player; I wasn’t very creative (laughs)."
Why soccer? Pulisic replied:
"Both of my parents played. My dad was a professional, and my mom was probably the best player of the two: she was a great player."
When you play video games, do you use yourself?
"Well, when you first get put into a video game, you definitely want to use yourself to play (laughs): it’s the coolest thing ever."
About the Eye of the Tiger celebration after goals: did you get the tiger tattoo on purpose?
"No, not exactly: that wasn’t the plan, it wasn’t a celebration, but when I did it, the tattoo artist told me to try it to see if it was perfectly aligned. I was 18-19 years old."
What’s happening at Yankee Stadium? Pulisic said:
"Yes, we have a big game against Manchester City next Saturday at Yankee Stadium: I mean a soccer game at Yankee Stadium (laughs)... Am I excited before games? Yes, usually, and honestly even more when I play in the United States: it’s always nice to be home and play with my European club in the States, it’s nice."
Will you entertain your European teammates?
"They always ask me. Last year we were in Los Angeles, and they were saying: 'Come on Christian, it’s your country, show us something around.' And I said: 'But I’m from Hershey, Pennsylvania...' (laughs). New York is a bit closer, so maybe I can come up with something..."
