The discussions between Milan and Juventus suddenly intensified in recent hours, with the Rossoneri close to transferring Pierre Kalulu to the Bianconeri. This might not be the only deal between Milan and Juve, as Federico Chiesa’s name has also come up in negotiations.
Chiesa is in total disagreement with his club due to a contract renewal that hasn't materialised. To offload the Italian winger, Tuttosport reports that Juventus is considering a swap with Alexis Saelemaekers.
Negotiations for Chiesa’s potential contract renewal with Juventus have collapsed immediately, and today Giuntoli is looking for a solution, which, however, is not easy: all potential buyers are waiting either for the end of the market or even until next summer to acquire him on a free transfer. Juventus cannot wait because if the player is kept until the contract expires, he would cost the club 24 million euros. For this reason, the Juventus sporting director has identified Alexis Saelemaekers as the perfect exchange piece. Chiesa could go to Milan where he would have the opportunity to play in the Champions League and fit into a system of play suited to him. The problem is the salary value: Chiesa would need to lower his salary to stay within the 4.5 million euros cap, exceeded only by a talent like Leao. It is not certain that this will happen, given that the misunderstandings at Continassa stem from this issue.
Juventus has "chosen" Saelemaekers as a possible counterpart because he had a great season with Thiago Motta at Bologna. At the same time, despite Fonseca’s words of praise and the Portuguese coach’s intention to keep the Belgian player, it is not certain that Alexis will stay with Milan 100% this season: if the right opportunity arises, he would be sold.
Milan values him at 15 million euros, which is the same amount that Juve is asking for Chiesa, whose contract is expiring. For this reason, the swap would be equal and Milan would not incur a loss, according to Tuttosport. This negotiation can currently be categorised as speculative, but it may have some truth that could come to the fore.
