Today’s Tuttosport, discussing Milan’s moves in this summer transfer window, noted how the Rossoneri are continuing their pursuit of Youssouf Fofana. The French midfielder, born in 1999, is the primary target to strengthen the midfield.
The new signal came from Fofana’s exclusion from Monaco’s squad list for the ‘Trofeo Gamper’ in Barcelona. This likely indicates that the French club is starting to ease their hold on the French player.
Until now, this had never happened. Monaco, despite Fofana’s contract expiring in less than a year (June 30, 2025), had always asked for 35 million euros to sell the player. Milan, for its part, with an agreement with Fofana already in place for some time, has never considered matching these financial demands.
Therefore, it’s possible that Milan will raise their offer to around 20 million euros in the coming days, after previously extending an offer of 17 million euros at the end of July. At that point, the Monaco management might accept the new offer, abandoning their aim for much more favourable terms, and granting Fofana permission to move to Milan.
