Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi gave an update on the Scudetto race for the new Serie A season, which begins today.
Here are his statements:
On Inter:
"I don't see any weaknesses in the Nerazzurri. It would be a problem if the players thought they had already reached the finish line and didn't put in the same effort and determination as last season. But I don't think that will happen. If Inter can make another leap forward in terms of their play, they are in a strong position."
On the main challengers:
"Milan, Juve, and Napoli. From Milan, I expect them to press more when they don't have the ball and to move quickly, attacking spaces. This is necessary to be a modern team. Juve has embarked on a new path, and I am curious to see Thiago Motta in action. Will he be able to maintain his success? Napoli still needs to work in the transfer market to complete the team."
On the coaches, Sacchi said:
"Conte is a coach who has already proven to be at the highest level. He can have a significant impact, but they need to provide him with the players. Right now, he only has 12 or 13: that's too few. Thiago Motta is a strategist, but I don't know if he can replicate his Bologna season at Juve. Fonseca has had two seasons in France, where he did not impress. Will he integrate perfectly with the Milan environment?"
On the possible surprise of Serie A:
"I am curious to see Juve in a new guise; they could provide us with some beautiful football. I am also intrigued by Vanoli's Torino (Milan's first opponent), a coach I know well and who has shown he has quality."
