Paulo Fonseca speaking to the Rossoneri club's official channel at the end of Parma - Milan, a match that ended 2-1 in favour of the home team:
“I feel sorry for the fans; they came here in large numbers and deserved a different attitude from the team. I am responsible; I think we collectively and individually had the wrong attitude. It’s not acceptable to allow Parma to create so much and concede a goal on their first opportunity. There is a defensive problem. Offensively, the phase creates, but the problem is defensive.”
Collective problem... Fonseca said:
"The problem is not limited to an individual; it’s a general issue. I expected much more at this moment. We had opportunities to score, but if you defend like this, it’s difficult to win games. I’m satisfied with Pavlovic’s performance, but the problem is collective."
What has changed compared to the summer friendlies:
"It’s hard to say what the reason for the regression is. It’s motivating to play against the big teams as we did in the summer, but these are our matches now. I told the players, ‘Either we fight together, or it becomes difficult.’ Not fighting, we lost the match. During the week, you prepare the game, the players work, but in the match, you concede immediately, and it becomes difficult."
