On the pages of Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi commented on Milan's current situation:
"I don't think it's right to blame Fonseca: let's allow him to work in peace, and then we can make a more balanced judgment. If the directors chose him, they must have had good reasons. It’s unfair and, above all, inappropriate to judge a professional after just three games. Building a house takes time, brick by brick. Mistakes can be made, corrections are made, and conclusions are drawn at the end of the process."
Sacchi talked about Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez:
"The case involving Theo Hernandez and Leao has stirred quite a bit of discussion. I don't know the dynamics within the group and I don't presume to judge. However, I believe that the coach's choices, even if deemed wrong, should always be respected by the players. Fonseca is there to give the team an identity and a style of play. If he left out Theo and Leao, he must have given it considerable thought: coaches don’t make line-ups at random. As for Leao, I’ll say this: he is a player with great qualities, but he doesn’t always manage to showcase them. He needs to work hard to make the leap in quality that everyone expects from him."
