AC Milan will take the field tonight at San Siro at 8:45 PM CEST to face Inter in the first derby of the season. A lot is at stake for the Rossoneri. First, Paulo Fonseca’s future is on the line, as a loss would almost certainly see him forced to leave the Rossoneri bench; second, the negative history as the Nerazzurri are aiming for their seventh consecutive victory in a derby, an unprecedented feat. To talk about the derby, former Rossoneri midfielder Demetrio Albertini was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, and relayed via Milannews.it.
Albertini's thoughts on who will make the difference in the derby:
"For Inter, Lautaro, who has been blocked and underperforming so far, worries me: he’ll want to bounce back against Milan to kickstart his season. For Milan, maybe Leao, whom we’ve been waiting for in terms of consistency. No one doubts his abilities, but his performance has been too inconsistent. We hope the derby will be an ‘up’ game and not a ‘down’ one. We're not asking him to carry the team on his shoulders or to be a leader, but to make a difference."
