Tuttosport commented on AC Milan's victory against Lecce and shared the following headline in today's print edition:
"And Fonseca even makes Leao the captain"
It was the coach's decision to assign the captain's armband to Rafael Leao last night against Lecce. Behind the Portuguese tactician's choice is the desire to further empower the Milan number 10 and give him even more motivation.
Today, Leao is a different player.
In the post-match press conference, Fonseca commented on the AC Milan left-winger who provided an assist in Theo's goal. Here's what he said in yesterday's post-match press conference:
"Speaking the same language helps. I've always had a good relationship with him, an open one. I've always told him that he's a great player, but now he needs to be a player for the team. I really like that he's decisive: today, he made a great assist for Theo. I like even more that I see his growth in defense, that he's in the right place to press when we need it. Today, Rafa is a different player. He's not perfect, he doesn't always do everything right, but he does it many times, and I highly value his effort to help the team."
Maldini: “Theo, you are special. But, only one small difference…”
