Luigi Garlando, journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, doesn't hold back and attacks Paulo Fonseca, the Rossoneri coach, accusing him of criticizing the previous management under Stefano Pioli
. In this morning's Gazzetta, Garlando writes:
"Let's update the list of Paulo Fonseca's criticisms of the Milan team he inherited. He had already pointed out that it didn't defend well and relied primarily on counterattacks instead of controlling the game through possession. Yesterday, he extended the list of shortcomings." Garlando's reference is to the following statement by Fonseca: "Milan played individual games; changing that is difficult and takes time."
He continued to discuss Paulo Fonseca's words:
"The more one listens to the Portuguese coach, the more the mystery deepens; how did Stefano Pioli, with all those imperfections, manage to win a Scudetto that had been missing for 11 years, reach a semifinal that had been awaited for 15 seasons, and secure two second-place finishes? Since Fonseca has so far only defeated Venezia, Lecce, and the least motivated Inter in the last three years, someone in the communications team should advise him to focus more on the present and the future and less on scrutinising others."
As pointed out by Milannews.it, Perhaps Garlando should have reported the full statement from the Rossoneri coach, who had started by saying: "It’s not a criticism of the past, just an observation..."
