Paulo Fonseca's AC Milan could not keep the momentum obtained from the derby victory. They had lost later against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, then were handed their second defeat in the league, this time at the hands of Fiorentina, led by coach Raffaele Palladino.
Fabio Capello spoke about the Rossoneri, as usual with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Here are his remarks:
"Milan took a step backward against Fiorentina. I saw a team that took the field without the desire to fight. They would wake up every now and then, playing 10-15 minutes of good football, and then fall asleep again. It's a matter of attitude: Milan lost in Florence primarily because they wanted the win less than their opponents did."
Capello also commented on Milan's lack of consistency:
"The team had already lost consistency under Pioli after the Scudetto win, especially in terms of drive and aggressiveness. With Fonseca, things are not improving in this regard."
