Aurélien Tchouaméni spoke yesterday at the pre-match press conference for Israel-France, a Nations League group stage match.
The Real Madrid midfielder was chosen by Didier Deschamps to wear the captain's armband for the next two games in the absence of Kylian Mbappé.
Among the candidates was also Mike Maignan, who had been described as "disappointed" by the newspaper L'Equipe yesterday.
Here are Tchouaméni's words, as relayed via MilanPress.it:
"Mike is not disappointed at all. Internally, the captaincy hasn't been as big of a deal as it has been for the media."
He continued:
"We've remained very calm about it. And it's only temporary: we know very well who the captain of our national team is."
