AC Milan could use the international break to their advatange, especially after recent negative results, in order to fix some glaring errors and issues in Fonseca's squad.
In addition to that, the Rossoneri directors can now work with more serenity regarding the contract renewal issues. A few players are on the club's agenda, in this sense, such as Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan, and Matteo Gabbia, all of whom have deals which run until the summer of 2026.
For Theo Hernandez, however, the renewal with Milan is not easy.

This morning, Corriere dello Sport reports that the most difficult case to resolve is that of the French left-back, formerly of Real Madrid. The starting point and foundation of it is that the player would like to continue with the club (as told by his agent), and it seems that AC Milan board would like to move forward with him too.
This is certainly a necessary condition, but it is not enough, as in these negotiations, the financial component plays a fundamental role. Currently, Ibrahimović and Moncada have mainly spoken with the player, but soon, if they want to make progress, they will need to include the agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, in the discussions.
The player is asking for a top-level salary, but at the moment, Theo has also been going through a difficult period in terms of performances and behaviour. They will work to find a middle ground.
Milan managers optimistic regarding renewals of Maignan and Gabbia
The situations regarding goalkeeper Mike Maignan and central defender Matteo Gabbia are more advanced. For the goalkeeper who is 29 years of age, the formula that could convince him has been found: a four-year extension at five million euros per season.
Positive feelings also surround the Italian defender, whose strong performances since January have convinced Milan to move ahead with a timely renewal.
For Gabbia, there is a four-year offer, too, and his salary is set to be doubled.
As of today, Gabbia earns about one million euros net per season. Some more time, however, will be needed to finalise everything.
