Paulo Fonseca spoke to DAZN just minutes before the match against Monza.
On how he prepared the team for tonight’s game:
“By studying Monza, which is a great team. Playing here is always tough for Milan, as we saw last year. We prepared the team with attention to the important details. We need to cover the wide players who cut inside, like Maldini and Mota. I think we’ve prepared well for the match.”
On Alvaro Morata, Fonseca said:
"He sacrifices a lot for the team but scores few goals “We have to understand the moments in the game. When we’re close to the goal, Morata is there. Maybe we played against teams that defend deep, making it harder to create chances, but I have to say Morata has done fantastic work for the others. I highly value a player like Morata.”
On Rafael Leao's exclusion, Fonseca said:
"I have to say it’s just a choice. I’m not saying the player hasn’t worked hard. I haven’t given any details; it’s purely my decision. We have another important game in two days, and I have to manage the team, so this choice also considers the next match.”
