The CAN (National Referees Commission) member Elenito Di Liberatore was a guest on the latest episode of "Open VAR" aired on DAZN.
On the Monza - Milan episode, where a goal for the home team was disallowed due to a prior foul before Mota’s goal: "A light contact and the referee made a decision? Exactly. There are two errors, but from the field: the first is that it's a light contact that shouldn't be penalised."

VAR cannot intervene
"Then there's the timing error: if they had penalised it where it occurred, it would have been considered a wrong, albeit light, foul, but by delaying it, we created this situation. The VAR cannot intervene there, as it’s restricted by the fact that there was minimal contact."
