The AC Milan head coach, Paulo Fonseca spoke to the press about the 3-3 draw against Cagliari at the Unipol Domus. Rafael Leao scored a brace and Tammy Abraham also scored. But, there were issues in defence as three goals were conceded.
What is the fault of your team today?
"This match is very easy to explain. We scored three goals, but we can’t allow three goals like that. We need to work on crosses; we have a problem. Cagliari won 100% of the aerial duels, and that’s not acceptable."
A small step back? Fonseca replied:
"We still have many points available. A great team proves itself over time. We are improving offensively, but less so in defense."
Disappointed or angry?
"No, I think the team managed the game well, but less so in challenges and duels. It’s honestly hard to explain."
Fonseca, there are problems that occur away from home. At home, you concede much less. Is it a coincidence?
"We faced a team in good form that plays a direct style. We need to improve defensively, I repeat."
Who impressed you from Cagliari?
"I don’t focus on my opponents. We were prepared for this type of aggressive football. Cagliari did very well."
Rafael Leao is a winning choice again finally. He scored a brace in a difficult stadium... The coach commented:
"He understood where he needed to improve. Today, he was decisive, even helping defend with the team."
