Mister Paulo Fonseca spoke to Sky Sport at the end of Slovan Bratislava-Milan 2-3. Here are his statements:
An important victory:
“Very important. We’ve won the last three Champions League games, scoring nine goals. This is very positive. Now we have three more matches that we have the chance to win. Today it was important to secure the victory, and that’s what we did."
Why so many ups and downs? Fonseca replied:
"I think we dominated the match; we made a lot of changes to the lineup. We did some positive things, but there are areas to improve, perhaps because we rotated so many players. Our preventive marking wasn’t good, but we improved after halftime. We deserved to win. The last goal we conceded was due to a clear referee error—there was a foul in our favor. We deserved to finish with a different result."
Fonseca’s touch for Rafael Leao is working…

“I always talk with Rafa. He knows why he didn’t start today. He understood, and when he came on, he was decisive. I’m pleased with Rafa. Having this attitude and desire, even when he’s on the bench, is very positive.”
Once again, some poor defensive decisions today. Do you think it’s because of constant lineup changes, or is it about working more on reading the game? In the case of the first goal, it was an incredible individual mistake. How are opponents getting to your goal so easily?
“These are hard things to explain. On corners, we have three players back, so it’s difficult to understand… Perhaps it’s because these defenders haven’t played much. It’s an issue of reading the game, not attitude. In the first half, when we allowed Slovan to break through, it was a defensive marking issue: we were too far from the opposing players, and they always had space to get out. It’s a problem of reading and understanding what’s happening on the field." This was relayed via Milannews.it.
