CorSera: Three players in Fonseca’s sights at Milanello as he continues his work

Anyone who thought that Paulo Fonseca, after his harsh outburst on Wednesday against the team, would step back in the following days will have to rethink, relays Milannews.it.

In fact, the Portuguese coach had no second thoughts, on the contrary, yesterday he reiterated the same concept at Milanello during the resumption of training: more effort is needed both in training and in matches, especially from some players.

Three in Milan's crosshairs...

As reported this morning by Il Corriere della Sera, Fonseca's focus is on three players in particular, with whom the Milan coach already had a confrontation yesterday (there was no general meeting with the team): the first is Theo Hernandez, unrecognisable for weeks and a far cry from the devastating full-back of past seasons.

The other two are Davide Calabria and Fikayo Tomori, both of whom have lost their starting spots this season: the captain, after being substituted, avoided Fonseca, while the English centre-back received a ridiculous yellow card while warming up and, being on a yellow card suspension, will miss Milan's next Champions League match against Girona on January 22.

Paulo Fonseca's reaction in the coming Milan matches:

With those harsh words, Fonseca, tired of being the lightning rod, wanted to hold the players accountable and now expects a different attitude both on and off the pitch. This is why he opted for this public outburst, which was as courageous as it was risky, but the Portuguese is convinced that his outburst will leave a mark. While waiting to see if this will be the case, today the Rossoneri club will begin preparing for Sunday's match against Genoa, where punitive benchings are not ruled out.
