Paulo Fonseca is no longer the AC Milan head coach.
The former Lille boss effectively broke the news of his dismissal last night when leaving San Siro.
He briefly stopped in front of Sky Sport’s cameras and microphones, confirming his sacking. A decision that might have been expected, given that his replacement, Conceição, was already prepared to arrive to Milan today.

However, the timing and manner in which the decision was made and communicated were unexpected.
This confusion was highlighted by Franco Ordine, who wrote an article for Il Giornale this morning with the telling headline:
"Fonseca pays for Milan's chaos."
We further read the following:
"Fonseca dismissed over an unawarded penalty, leaves insulting the referee. A useless draw with Roma: Dybala responds to Reijnders."
