Speaking in the Sky Sport Italia studios, journalist Emanuele Baiocchini discussed AC Milan on the eve of the Italian Super Cup final against Inter, focusing particularly on Fikayo Tomori. After early struggles under Paulo Fonseca, Tomori could return to prominence with Sergio Conceição now at the helm:
"Tomori? I think his issues have been primarily mental. Tomori is also a moody player. If he feels appreciated, if he feels nurtured, as Pioli did for him, he can perform at the level he showed in his first years at Milan."

What about Matteo Gabbia?

"Gabbia was proving that he deserved a starting spot. In fact, it will be a competition between him (and Tomori, editor's note) or with other contenders, as the competition will also include the other center-backs. Thiaw is performing well, Pavlovic hasn’t played much, but at the start of the season, he was among the best. So, in my opinion, Milan has excellent defenders in the heart of the defense."
Returning to Tomori:
"The fact that Conceição blocked his potential sale already shows that he values him. Otherwise, Milan would have probably accepted the €30 million offer from Juventus and reinvested it elsewhere. Instead, the sale was blocked, clearly indicating that the coach believes in him and wants to rely on the Englishman."
