Como tried to sign Theo Hernandez and Marcus Rashford. The confirmation comes directly from Mirwan Suwarso.
The Indonesian president of the Italian club stated in an interview with Sky Sport:
"Yes, we tried, but we are aware that we are a small club, so some people don’t take us seriously yet. Certain big names, when they hear about Como, say, ‘No, I want to play in the Champions League.’ That makes sense—we know very well what we can and cannot do. But we dream big. During the last winter transfer window, we tried to do our best to provide our coach, Cesc Fabregas, with the players he needed for his style of play. Many of the names mentioned were real. We were close to many players, some of whom never became public."
Como's president added:
"Nico Paz is a great player, very ambitious. If we can stay at the level of his ambition, we hope to keep him. But we have to be realistic: if he keeps improving, a player like him deserves to play on the biggest stages in the world. From our side, we can only try to be up to the challenge, as we are already doing. We all want Nico Paz to stay here—forever, if possible. The same goes for Cesc Fabregas. Ambition must be strong, but things change—that’s life. We have to be good at managing the challenges that will come our way. I’ve been married three times—if everything had gone perfectly, I would have done it only once."
