The Rossoneri’s struggles, between Milan Futuro and first team - A recap of all you need to know.

The atmosphere at the end of the Milan - Lazio fixture at the San Siro stadium was really and entirely predictable. The Curva Sud unleashed its full anti-ownership repertoire, with the 2024-25 hit "E Cardinale devi vendere" being the most popular chant. On the pitch, what the team as a whole displayed was utter chaos.

Before the match, Giorgio Furlani stepped up, took responsibility, and spoke with clarity and precision, not avoiding the pressing issues of the moment. On a communicative level, he certainly appeared sincere and answered everything. The facts tell us that the road to May will be long. And this is the result of what has been written and said for months. But we were the ones who failed to understand…

What did Milan CEO Furlani say?

"When performances are this far below expectations, there isn’t just one culprit: the truth is, we are all somewhat responsible. I certainly include myself in that. The disappointment the fans feel is the same one we feel, both in the club and the team—I feel it too. A new director? As I said, we need to significantly improve our sporting results. If there are figures we can bring into the club who will help us achieve the results we want, we will consider them. At the moment, no decision has been made regarding this position,” he said ahead of the Milan - Lazio match in an interview with DAZN network.

The appointment of the new sporting director should happen very soon. With Andrea Berta and François Modesto no longer in contention, the names of Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare remain on the table. The former Juventus executive, whose suspension ends in June, met with Milan representatives in London (a meeting that reportedly included Cardinale), but he seeks solid guarantees regarding the club’s chain of command and full control over the sporting area—without direct interference but with a clear delineation of roles and responsibilities. Igli Tare, after his tenure at Lazio, has remained "unemployed" in an official capacity but has continued to stay updated while waiting for the right opportunity. That opportunity could come soon, as his name has emerged in recent hours as the leading candidate in Milan’s structural reorganization.

Looking at the best crypto sports betting sites, fans of AC Milan would be able to see plenty of services, promotions, and bonuses offered for them to win big prizes and weekly cashbacks, as well as becoming more involved with the action. You can use these services easily with cryptocurrency like Bitcoin for deposits, wagers, and withdrawals, all while benefiting from decentralized payment systems. So while you are waiting for the Rossoneri’s next fixture, check out that link and hopefully, you’ll strike gold, unlike Milan in their last match.

What is certain is that the next sporting director will not only have to rebuild relationships, structures, and hierarchies from the rubble but also restore credibility to the "project" (a terribly overused word). At the same time, there must be absolute clarity in the control room regarding the key issue raised by Paratici—the chain of command and scope of authority. A few more days, and there may be more clarity on many fronts. But one thing is certain: a clear decision must be made. Paratici brings extensive international experience, having worked in elite environments such as Juventus during their nine-title run and later at Tottenham. Tare, on the other hand, excelled at Lazio and has a completely different profile. A direction must be chosen and followed with conviction.

The latest news reports are hinting at the possibility of seeing either one of Igle Tare, ex Lazio man, and Fabio Paratici, former Tottenham and Juventus director, take over at Casa Milan. But, the situation is still far from resolved. According to the latest updates, club owner Gerry Cardinale should fly in from the United States to Milan in the next few weeks to discuss this matter, along with several others, before making such important decisions, as relayed via Milannews.it.

Meanwhile, Massimo Oddo and Mauro Tassotti, two true Rossoneri legends, have taken the U-23 team, Milan Futuro’s situation, to heart

Recently, the team lost to Legnago, who had been down to 10 men since the end of the first half. However, it’s the entire project of the second Rossoneri team that, if it remains in Serie C, will need to be dismantled and rebuilt from scratch. First and foremost, a proper structure is required—one that understands the league, the players, and its dynamics. That means not appointing a novice like Kirovski but instead hiring a director who knows how to manage such a team. Also—spoiler alert—Milan Futuro has already exceeded its season budget by over €2 million, as relayed via the Italian news website Milan News.

A clear and precise strategy must then follow:

Milan Futuro players should stay with Milan Futuro. They must develop within the daily reality of a Serie C club rather than being abruptly pulled into or out of the squad, as has happened this season. No one needed to reinvent the wheel; simply copying Juventus' Next Gen model would have sufficed instead of expecting first-team-ready players in just a few months (Alex Jimenez, who initially arrived from Real Madrid, is an exception in this case and should definitely not be the rule).
