Paolo Scaroni, AC Milan's president, spoke to DAZN ahead of the Rossoneri's match against Como at the San Siro.
Here's what he said:
"It has been a difficult season, no doubt about it. A season that has disappointed our fans and also ourselves. And we are asking ourselves questions about the future: how to make sure the future is better. I don’t know if I would call this evolution; it seems to me like a natural process that all clubs go through."
Have you identified any mistakes? Would it have been better not to play in the Conference League?
"I like to remember that we brought home a nice trophy, so it wasn’t a completely negative season. We don’t consider the season over: the Champions League is very far away, but we keep fighting, and if we manage to qualify for another European competition, we will play it with the same commitment we have always shown in international tournaments."
Update on the stadium:
"I have been dealing with the stadium since 2019. I can’t help but say that in the end, after a whole series of turns, we have returned to the 2019 proposal: Milan and Inter building a new stadium together, the best stadium in Europe, here in San Siro. I regret the fact that we had to look for solutions in the face of vetoes that are typical of our country. We have submitted an offer to buy the stadium and the surrounding areas so we can start our project. The ball is in the Municipality’s court; they need to respond to the document. I am optimistic, and I also see in Mayor Sala a strong willingness to leave Milan with a wonderful infrastructure that the city needs. We all love the Meazza: we will leave an important vestige, agreed upon with the fine arts authorities, that will remain as a memory of the stadium where we achieved great feats. But the new stadium will be open to everyone: to families, to people with disabilities who currently face enormous difficulties in coming to the stadium."
