After the false alarm at the beginning of March, Milan’s search for a new sporting director is now getting serious.
The hunt for an executive had been slowed down by internal adjustments within the ownership and management: Cardinale and Ibrahimovic had already met potential candidates, but then Giorgio Furlani traveled to New York to meet the owner, asking him to reaffirm his absolute centrality in decision-making—including sporting matters—as the CEO with signing authority.
Cardinale confirmed Furlani’s powers, meaning the decision on the new sporting director is now in his hands.
Tuttosport published the following headline:
"Serie A on pause, but Milan isn’t: the hunt for a sporting director is on."
The subtitle also mentions Furlani’s upcoming movements, which include another trip outside Europe: "Candidates under review by CEO Furlani, who is set to depart for Dubai and expected in Milan to finalize the discussion, with D’Amico favored over Tare and Paratici."
The Rossoneri executive will be in Dubai for two days for the club’s commercial commitments (our exclusive report). Upon his return, discussions for the new sporting director will resume.
