In view of tomorrow evening's Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against Inter, today's edition of Corriere della Sera headlines the following about the Rossoneri:
"Milan, last call: save face with the other Europe and then rebuild."
The red-and-blacks are clinging to the national cup to partially salvage a season that, without qualification for the next Champions League, is already a failure. Winning the second trophy of the season after the Italian Super Cup would allow the Milan club to secure a spot in the 2025-2026 Europa League.
Coppa Italia, Europa League, and summer rebuilding
However, winning the Coppa Italia will not be easy, as Milan’s semifinal opponent is the worst possible draw: Inter, the current Serie A leaders. The eventual final would pit them against either Empoli or Bologna. By lifting the national cup, the Rossoneri would also earn a place in next season’s Europa League. But before the start of the new campaign, there will be a major overhaul at Milan both on and off the pitch: a new sporting director will arrive, a new coach will take over, and the squad is likely to undergo a significant transformation, including some major departures.
