Giorgio Furlani, AC Milan's CEO, spoke to Mediaset before the Milan-Inter Coppa Italia match. Here are his statements:
The importance of this trophy for Milan:
"This is a very important match. The derby is a special game with a different kind of significance, and even more so in a cup semifinal, which has been a goal since the beginning of the season.”
On the sporting director role. Is there a general agreement with Paratici?
“First of all, we are not satisfied with this season’s sporting results. Sporting results are at the core of the club, and we are working towards the next season to achieve better outcomes. Within this process, there are various aspects and preparations we are making. We have not finalized or decided anything with anyone yet, and I won’t comment on roles or individuals, but we are preparing because we want to improve the sporting side.”
On Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Will he remain part of Milan’s project?
“Zlatan may have seemed absent to you, but to me, he hasn’t been. We are always in contact and working together in total harmony. Internally, it is clear who does what and how we work together. Maybe from the outside, there’s some confusion. Ibra will remain part of this project, we work well together, and for me, nothing has changed compared to a few weeks ago.”
Furlani on what profile should the new sporting director have
“We haven’t had a traditional sporting director in the last two seasons, as we divided the role among various people in the club. Now, we are evaluating—though no decisions have been made yet—whether to appoint a more traditional sporting director and consolidate those responsibilities into one person. There will still be a working group, and we will work together with the sole objective of succeeding on the pitch.”
