Having arrived to replace Paulo Fonseca last December, Sergio Conceição was tasked with improving Milan’s performance and securing qualification for the next Champions League—not making things worse and letting the team slip all the way down to ninth place in the standings, outside of any European competition.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly how things turned out, with the Portuguese coach—much like some of his players—seemingly lost, adrift in an environment that perhaps never supported him from the very beginning.
The blame is shared by everyone; there isn’t a single main culprit, although this morning Il Corriere dello Sport does point the finger somewhat at the Portuguese manager, headlining:
"Conceição, his football has vanished"
According to the Italian daily newspaper, the former Porto head coach was never providing his Milan with a recognizable playing identity over these past few months.
