Italian journalist Luca Bianchin explained what happened yesterday to Mike Maignan:
"In the 7th minute of the second half of Udinese-Milan, Maignan had a terrible collision while coming out with teammate Alex Jimenez. After three very long minutes, he left the field. Moments of great fright and fear, at the stadium and on TV, because the impact — live and seen again on TV — was impressive. To the point that, initially, there were fears even for Jimenez. Teammates loudly called for medical assistance, and Abraham knelt down to pray. Milan’s doctors in the dressing room made sure that Maignan was okay ('how are you?', 'who are you?', 'where are you?'), and Mike was always conscious, aware of himself, aware of what had happened. He never lost consciousness."
Bianchin added in his report:
"The tests immediately came back negative. Mike was transferred to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine, where he spent the night. With him was Mazzoni, Milan’s doctor. At the end of this story, then, remains a thought about Maignan’s very strange evening, in which he was first booed and then applauded by the Udine crowd, with whom he has had tense relations since last year's racism incident. 'This victory is for him,' said Leao after the match. And Conceiçao: 'I was moved during the match. I’ve never seen anything like it in 40 years of football. Udinese fans booed the player and applauded the man. A fantastic gesture.'"
