Alessandro Costacurta, former Rossoneri defender, spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about the new sporting director that Milan wants to bring into the club, with Igli Tare currently seeming to be the favorite:

"Is Tare the right profile? What’s right, first and foremost, is introducing that kind of figure into the club. Not just as a reference for the technical area or as a transfer market man, but for all the strategic decisions of the club. I believe that in the last two years, a figure like that has been missing. And Tare has already shown he knows how to do his job very well. All the profiles linked to the club are absolutely suitable. Beyond who is ultimately chosen, the important thing is that Milan has decided to do things properly, with people who can help that sector of the club."
Can having an authoritative sporting director at Milanello be supportive for the group? Costacurta replied:
"Ibra is already there to speak to the squad—he knows group dynamics perfectly. What’s needed is a broader managerial point of reference. Even Maldini made a few mistakes at the beginning, but Paolo learns at an astonishing speed. Others in recent years have not. Going back to Tare, he’s someone who understands football like few others."
