The casting to find the new sporting director of Milan may have received a significant acceleration, even if not yet decisive: yesterday afternoon in Rome, in fact, a meeting took place between the Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare, who as of today is the great favorite to become the new Milan sporting director. This was reported this morning by Corriere della Sera, which adds that the finish line has not yet been crossed, but the Albanian's sprint was important and the white smoke does not seem to be too far off.

Milan, more meetings are needed...

Yesterday’s face-to-face in the capital served to delve into several topics, such as the choice of the next coach and transfer market strategies. The meeting between Furlani and Tare was positive, even if a definitive agreement between the parties has not yet been reached. For this reason, other meetings and contacts are scheduled with the former Lazio sporting director, who is liked for various reasons: he knows the ins and outs of Italian football in depth, knows how to work in a team, and then, unlike other candidates like Tony D’Amico and Giovannia Sartori, he is free and could therefore start working for the Rossoneri club immediately. There is also another point in Tare’s favor: he has an excellent relationship with Geoffrey Moncada, who is expected to return to focusing on scouting.

Tare and the Allegri idea...

After Easter, the decisive acceleration is expected because another very important choice will then have to be made, namely that of the new coach. If the former Lazio man were indeed to arrive, the odds of Massimiliano Allegri—who was already on Milan’s bench from summer 2010 to January 2014—would significantly rise.

In addition to the issue of the coaching role, the new sporting director will also immediately have to tackle the matter of the contract renewals of two of the team's top players, namely Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez. And then there is the summer transfer window to plan and organize. In short, the work awaiting the new sporting director is considerable, and so a definitive choice needs to be made as soon as possible.
