Francesco Totti, historic former captain of Roma, gave an interview to BetssonSport, in which he spoke about many topics, including the feelings he experienced after his last match:
"A special day, a day that we players would never want to come. I experienced it in a calm way on one side, emotional on the other, a whole day dedicated to me. Being the protagonist of that Sunday was emotional. That evening never ended, it's difficult even to describe."

How were the 24 hours before the World Cup final?
"That is every young person's dream, to play in a World Cup final. We lived it like all the other nights, without thinking it was a World Cup final. No one slept, very few did, some were playing PlayStation, some playing cards, Gattuso and I played one-on-one scopa until 6 in the morning. It was a context too important, unforgettable."
What did you think at the moment of the penalty against Australia? Totti answered:
"As soon as the referee blew the whistle, I found a prairie to get to the penalty spot. I thought about doing a Panenka, but I was hesitant, I knew that after the penalty the match would be over. I felt like it, but I didn't feel like it. The goalkeeper was huge too, so I decided to shoot hard."
Regarding the famous ‘no’ to Real Madrid, did you speak with Florenzi Perez? Totti answered:
"No, I stayed out of everything, it was the club that spoke with him, Sensi had a great relationship with him. Sensi was adamant, he didn’t want to sell me to anyone, he would’ve gone into any debt just to keep me. He considered me the only real male of the family. Seeing the desire, the love he showed me, he didn’t even give me the chance to think about leaving."
Which Italian club tried the hardest? Totti replied:
"Milan and Inter, but after the first meeting with the president, they gave up."
