While waiting for the choice of the new sporting director and the new coach, at Casa Milan the directors are looking toward the end of the season with the dual objective of securing a spot in the next European competitions and lifting the Coppa Italia.
However, the last seven (or eight) matches of the 2024–25 season will need to further clarify which members of the squad are truly… Milan-worthy. Because the executive chosen to lead the sporting area and the coach identified for the rebirth will bring their ideas about which players should stay and which should leave, but they will arrive with the first assessments already drawn up and with some "verdicts" that may have already been… issued.

Who stays at AC Milan?
The starting base for next season is solid, more than the current ninth place in the standings would suggest. Pulisic, with his fifteen goals, and Reijnders, at fourteen, have been secured with contract renewals (the American’s is still to be made official) and are considered untouchable, even though there has already been interest from top clubs and more could emerge in the coming weeks.
However, the Rossoneri have no intention of… falling into temptation, as relayed via La Gazzetta delllo Sport.
Rafael Leao, who up until two months ago was on the fence due to too many ups and downs—and also due to the eleven times he was benched for technical reasons by Fonseca and Conceição—has changed gears and made it clear that he has grown, especially mentally: he’s reached double figures both in goals and assists for teammates and, even though his stats are lower than Pulisic’s, the Rossoneri directors will only let him leave for an important offer.
Certainly lower than his release clause (one hundred seventy-five million), but not at a discount price. In other words: not less than one hundred million. Also because Rafa’s will is to continue wearing the Milan shirt, maybe along with the captain’s armband.
Other confirmations at Casa Milan...
Youssouf Fofana has shown he is a midfielder of incredible substance, combining kilometers covered, balls recovered, and assists (eight). A great signing. Also good is another new signing, Pavlovic, who had a dip in form in the autumn but has now bounced back.
Gabbia will not leave either—he’ll be part of the Italian core the Rossoneri directors want to build (Sportiello will be part of it too). For Alex Jimenez, the club wants to start negotiations to avoid Real Madrid buying him back by paying twelve million.
Warren Bondo was signed in January and, although he has played little, his card won’t be sold. The idea is also to keep Walker, who will need to be bought from City.
In doubt...
We must start with captain Maignan, who had a dip in performance at the start of 2025 and made some costly errors—one of which, in the first leg of the playoff against Feyenoord, led to elimination from the Champions League. He has not yet signed a renewal and without an extension, his departure is more likely than his stay at Milanello.
As for Abraham, with ten goals (only three in the league), the situation depends on his performance in this final stretch and on Roma’s demands, as they own his registration. The Englishman’s position will be discussed.
