After the first meeting ten days ago and further telephone contacts, today a second face‑to‑face is scheduled between Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare, who is one of the candidates to become Milan’s new sporting director. He is not the only name on the club's list—options also remain for Tony D’Amico, Giovanni Manna, and Giovanni Sartori, but the Albanian is the only one in that group currently without a team and therefore could begin working for the club immediately.

The deal is not close yet...

This morning La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that we are still not near closing the deal. The first meeting was described as positive, but not conclusive. Ten days later, the scenario does not seem to have changed, and in all likelihood we will not see the definitive “white smoke” today either, since we are still in the phase where Furlani is looking around, and even a second meeting with Tare will not be enough for an agreement between the parties.

Other names monitored by AC Milan

The former Lazio man is slightly ahead of the other names on Milan’s list because he is available and could sign for Milan immediately. The other candidates cannot: D’Amico is under contract with Atalanta, Manna with Napoli, and Sartori with Bologna. At the moment none of those clubs intends to part with their sporting director, especially since we are in the crucial phase of the season and all three teams are fully engaged in pursuit of their objectives. Tare does not have those problems and could join the Rossoneri's immediately, but first he will have to convince Furlani to back him.
